Nani excited about United

For most 20-year-olds, an important goal in a UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifier would be memorable enough for one week. Or if you need more excitement, how about playing at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship? But Portugal winger Nani is not only doing all that, he has also agreed a dream move to Manchester United FC.

'Very fast'
"It all happened very fast," the former Sporting Clube de Portugal starlet told uefa.com. "It seems the clubs reached an agreement quite rapidly and from then on I knew my career would continue at Manchester United. They are one of the major clubs in Europe. Any player would like to play in Manchester United."

Death of his father helped Ronaldo shine

CRISTIANO Ronaldo has revealed how the death of his father has made him fearless on the pitch.

The United winger's dad Dinis died in September 2005 with a chronic liver condition but his memory has driven the double Player of the Year on to glory.

With the backing of his family and a photograph of his dad the 22-year-old has been able to take England by storm.

"It was a very difficult moment. It's not normal to lose your father at 20 years of age and you learn a great many things about yourself at such times," said Ronaldo.

"One has to be strong. I have changed a lot in the past two years. I certainly don't have any fear when I go out to play now.

United not after Anelka

MANCHESTER UNITED have told Bolton they do not want to sign Nicolas Anelka.

Sir Alex Ferguson was considering a bid for the French striker to boost his squad ahead of United's defence of the Premiership title.

But Bolton chairman Phil Gartside has received reassurance from Red Devils chief executive David Gill that they are not chasing Anelka.

He said: "David Gill has confirmed to me that Manchester United have no interest in Nicolas.

"Sammy Lee is looking to build a squad for next season and we absolutely have no interest in selling any of our better players. Nicolas, of course, is one such player."

Anelka admitted at the weekend that he would jump at the chance to join United.

He said: "There has been no contact with any other club for my signature, none at all.

"But if there was, I couldn't say no to a club like United.

"I have to find out what Bolton want to do first. I don't want to leave and it's their decision."

United have already spent £50million this summer on Owen Hargreaves, Nani and Anderson.
